VANRATH are working with a forward thinking and progressive accountancy practice in Lisburn who specialise in the use of digital technology. The practice is one of the first to achieve Xero Platinum Partner Status and is considered as Northern Ireland's leading cloud‑based accountancy firm. Due to a period of sustained growth, they are now recruiting for an experienced Chartered Accountant to join their successful, vibrant team.

The Role

You will join a busy general practice environment, supporting a varied portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and local clients. This is a hands‑on role with plenty of client exposure, variety in your day‑to‑day, and the chance to grow your responsibilities as you settle in.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare year‑end accounts for a range of SMEs and sole traders
  • Produce management accounts and support clients with bookkeeping queries
  • Assist with VAT returns and general compliance work
  • Support personal and corporation tax compliance (depending on experience)
  • Liaise directly with clients, building strong relationships and providing practical advice
  • Help improve internal processes and support junior staff where appropriate
What's in It for You
  • Join a stable, successful firm with a loyal local client base
  • Genuine work‑life balance in a small‑town practice setting
  • On‑site parking and an easy commute to and from Lisburn
  • Supportive team environment with training and development on offer
Requirements
  • Experience working in an accountancy practice environment
  • Comfortable preparing accounts to at least draft stage (and ideally to completion)
  • Good working knowledge of VAT and general compliance
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
  • A steady, reliable approach and willingness to muck in as part of a small team
  • Experience with cloud software (Xero, Quick Books, Sage) is beneficial, but not essential
