Specific Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with and provide strategic counseling to law department colleagues, business partners, and management on a wide range of complex IP issues.
  • Apply expertise in government contract IP matters, commercial transactions, software and other IP licensing, manage global patent and trademark portfolios, protect information, and manage IP enforcement actions and outside counsel.
  • Develop an understanding of the Company and Sector’s business, products and technologies relating to electronics and software.
  • Provide thought leadership, drive development and implementation of enterprise‑level strategic IP initiatives.
  • Monitor developments in policy, legal and regulatory requirements in IP and advise leadership and business partners on best practices.
  • Develop and conduct enterprise‑wide training on IP topics.
Candidate Profile
  • Highly motivated individual with strong analytical and process‑development skills, clear and strategic thinking, exceptional judgment, sense of accountability, integrity, and a record of managing complex IP matters.
  • Ability to provide accurate, timely, and pragmatic advice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment, engaging and motivating others through thought leadership.
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills, responsiveness, and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor degree and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • Active state bar membership and registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • At least 8 years of IP experience in a law firm, government, or in‑house counsel.
  • Experience in IP‑related transactions and negotiations, and/or protecting and enforcing IP rights including patents, trade secrets, data, software, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Experience working closely with other lawyers, technologists and business leaders on IP issues.
  • U.S. citizenship required. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with software and other IP licensing.
  • Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Significant experience with U.S. government contract IP regulations (FAR and DFARS) and complex issues relating to technical data and computer software.
  • Experience with international IP issues and transactions.
  • Experience developing and managing global IP portfolios.
  • Active DoD Secret level security clearance.
