Secmation is actively seeking a Senior Business Development Leader to spearhead our growth strategy, focusing on the U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the extensive defense ecosystem at the Redstone Arsenal. This role is ideal for a seasoned business development expert in Huntsville with an extensive network in the local government and defense contractor landscape, ready to drive opportunity identification and pipeline expansion.

In this prominent, customer-facing position, you will be Secmation's primary growth ambassador, fostering relationships with government clients, prime contractors, and strategic partners. You'll shape program requirements, lead capture initiatives, and convert local market opportunities into contract wins. This role offers a unique chance to directly impact Secmation's expansion in a pivotal defense hub while embodying the agile ownership typical of a high-growth defense technology company.

Role Will Include:
  • Building and maintaining relationships within the Huntsville defense contractor community — partnering with both large primes and small businesses for collaboration opportunities.
  • Leading the execution of Secmation's growth strategy in the Huntsville area with a focus on team efforts and pipeline expansion for the U.S. Army, MDA, and other aligned DoD organizations.
  • Creating a comprehensive partner map and action plan to ensure Secmation's prominence in pursuit efforts.
  • Identifying and pursuing select non-DoD government contracting opportunities that align with Secmation's technical strengths and strategic goals.
  • Serving as the principal customer-facing representative in Huntsville, establishing trust-based relationships with government stakeholders and local defense contractors.
  • Managing the entire capture process for Huntsville-dedicated opportunities, from identification to award, including developing winning strategies, shaping solutions, and supporting proposals.
  • Leveraging market intelligence specific to Huntsville to inform strategic decisions and improve win probabilities.
  • Working closely with engineering, program management, and leadership to align customer requirements with Secmation's capabilities.
  • Contributing to bid, gate, and pricing reviews while assessing risks and developing capture strategies.
  • Maintaining precise and actionable pipeline data within the company's CRM to aid in forecasting and decision-making.
  • Representing Secmation at industry events, customer meetings, and networking forums to bolster brand presence and market awareness.
Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance preferred; must be eligible to obtain/restore TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development or capture in defense technology, software, or technical services.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Defense Business Development, specifically with successful business capture in technical service programs.
  • Established professional network within the Huntsville/Redstone Arsenal defense community.
  • Prior experience in business development or capture supporting U.S. Army PEOs, AMCOM, DEVCOM, MDA, or related organizations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business development lifecycle, including market research, capture management, and proposal development.
  • Solid knowledge of federal procurement acquisition processes and contract types.
  • Track record in leading capture activities for programs over $5M in value.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Work Location and Position Type:

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Huntsville, AL, necessitating regular in-person engagement with customers and industry events in the area. Working days are typically Monday through Friday, with working hours adjusted based on project needs. This role involves business travel approximately 30% of the time.
