We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Structural Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD.
What You’ll Get To DoThe structural analysis team supports programs across the sector, including the airborne, ground mobile, ground stationery, and surface based naval applications, and across a variety of length scales ranging from ECS systems, sensor and radar systems, chassis, CCAs, and device levels.
Roles And Responsibilities- Hands on ownership & operation of the department’s Engineering Dynamics Lab focusing on vibration, acoustic, and phase noise testing for product development and risk reduction.
- Plan and execute engineering tests, document and communicate results across the organization.
- Perform various lab management responsibilities such as:
Chemical Hygiene Plan maintenance, environmental management, lab housekeeping and safety walkdowns, service contract upkeep, consumables upkeep, and Capital Project identification and justification. - Perform structural analysis on aerospace, shipboard, ground based, and space radar systems and structures.
- Loads development, stress analysis (static and fatigue), and vibration analysis of metallic and composite structures.
- Performing classical structural analysis and finite element analysis is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important for clear communication of results through reports and presentations
- Collaborate in a team environment, mentor less experienced personnel, prioritize and organize tasks to support program milestones.
This position is contingent upon ability to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience, Ph.D. with 1 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields
- U.S Citizenship is required
- The ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- The ability to work onsite daily at the Linthicum, MD/Baltimore facility.
- Strong background in classical structural and finite element analysis including static, non-linear, modal, and vibration analysis.
- Minimum 1 year experience developing FEMs at the detail and assembly levels with commercial FEA software.
- High Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Comfort with presentation to internal and external customers.
- Proficient working and communicating across a multidisciplinary team.
