Responsibilities

• Lead the PDK direction across multiple technologies; interfacing with other foundry roles as a subject matter expert; mentoring PDK/CAD engineers; maintaining documentation and schedules.
• Join the team as a Principal/Senior Principal Integrated Circuit Process Design Kit (PDK) Developer.
• Full-time on-site work at our Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) in Linthicum, MD or at our Annapolis Junction, MD location.
• Design the next generation of high-performance computing solutions with superconducting electronics and energy-efficient computation; collaborate with scientists and engineers to design, fabricate, and test digital logic circuits.
• Foster a culture of belonging, mentorship, and personal growth; participate in multi-disciplinary challenges.

As a Member Of Our Team You Will

• Write design verification rule files
• Create PDK tech files
• Code skill-based P-Cells
• Edit/Integrate PDK model files
• Write scripts to automate common tasks and improve designer efficiency
• Review the work of other PDK engineers
• Maintain PDK documentation
• Develop and deploy robust PDK regression and release methodologies
• Lead PDK direction across multiple technologies
• Champion the implementation of best practices and task automation
• Interface with other foundry roles as a subject matter expert
• Mentor Junior/Mid-level PDK/CAD engineers
• Demonstrate capabilities to stakeholders and provide support for feedback and enhancements
• Participate in Agile project management workflows to drive projects to the finish line

Basic Qualifications for Principal Integrated Circuit Process Design Kit (PDK) Developer

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of experience (or Master of Science with 3 years, PhD with 0 years) within a related engineering field.
• Experience creating and augmenting IC PDKs for compatibility with microelectronics foundry processes
• Solid knowledge of the Cadence Virtuoso environment and DRC/LVS/PEX within Cadence DIVA, Assura or Mentor Graphics Calibre
• Experience generating scripts (SKILL, Python, PERL, Ocean, Linux Shell, etc.) to provide capabilities within a CAD environment
• Strong analysis, design and problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must be willing to work on site 100% of time
• Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required
• This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance per business requirements

Preferred Qualifications for Principal Integrated Circuit Process Design Kit (PDK) Developer

• Master of Science degree in STEM with 3+ years within a related engineering field
• Semiconductor device modeling experience
• Knowledge of semiconductor process development, design, manufacturing and testing
• Experience taking lab measurements on process control monitor (PCM) test structures or interpreting results from automated testing of those structures
• Experience utilizing the Spectre simulator to verify models match measurements
• Must be willing to work on site 100% of time
• Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required
• This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance per business requirements
