The City of Kawartha Lakes is hiring summer students, and we're looking for innovative and passionate individuals interested in a four-month position from May to August. Our Summer Student Program introduces students to the public sector through challenging experiences, while providing meaningful opportunities to contribute to the community.
Summer employment with the City of Kawartha Lakes can be great way to earn and learn.
To be considered for a Student position with the City of Kawartha Lakes, you must be:
Minimum of age 16
Registered as a full time student during the preceding academic year, 2025 to 2026
Registered as a full time student with the intent to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year, 2026 to 2027
Job DescriptionAssisting in planting and maintenance of shrubs and flower beds
Turf maintenance, grass cutting, weed control and maintenance
Litter collection and waste container servicing
Clean and maintain washroom, park furniture, community halls, shelter facilities
Operate machinery and equipment related to grounds maintenance functions (ie: lawnmowers, weed trimmers)
Operate City vehicles for the purpose of travel to various work locations; trailering equipment such as lawn equipment, if applicable
QualificationsSimilar work experience preferred
Ability to perform physical labour outdoors for long periods of time
Grounds maintenance equipment operation preferred
Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G2” Driver’s Licence or higher
Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check and satisfactory drivers abstract will be required.
