The Instrument/Analyzer Tech, Bayway Refinery works independently and with others to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. They troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. The Instrument/Analyzer Tech assures compliance with all Company policies and procedures and training requirements.

- Installing, removing, calibrating, and repairing refinery electronic, digital, and pneumatic process control instruments
- Installing and maintaining on-line analyzers
- Testing and maintaining Safety Instrument Systems
- Troubleshooting, maintaining and overhauling process control valves
- Preparing schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect activities
- Following company policies and procedures and completing required training
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Maintain a valid driver s license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found c
- Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:
- To climb up to 150 feet in height
- To lift and transport materials (up to 50 pounds), bend, stoop, perform moderate manual labor, work in confined spaces, climb, and work at various levels above the ground
- To maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
- To wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, ear protection, eye protection, fire retardant clothing, fall protection
- To work overtime
- To work outdoors including in inclement weather conditions
- To work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
- To work around chemicals, including acids and bases, that may be under high pressure and heat
- To read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits, instruction manuals
- To perform firefighting duties as needed
- 3 or more years of experience as an Instrument/Analyzer Technician
- 3 or more years of experience in an industrial setting such as a refinery, petrochemical plant, nuclear power plant, pharmaceutical plant, brewery, or mill
The anticipated start date for this position is May
2026. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
The hourly rate for this position is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The starting pay rate is $40.56 per hour with anticipated increases every 6 months until reaching the top rate (currently $53.36 per hour) after 3 years. Benefits include 8% 401k match, Cash Balance Account pension, and 7.5% annual cash bonus target.
The Bayway Refinery is located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey. Bayway s facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrodesulfurization and alkylation units. The complex also includes a polypropylene plant with the capacity to produce up to 775 million pounds per year. The refinery processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. Foreign crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker, and domestic crude oil is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transportation.
The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petrochemical feed stocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. Refined products are distributed to East Coast customers by pipeline, barge, rail car and truck.
