Join the Youth & Teen Services team at Lincolnwood Public Library! If you love connecting children and teens to their next great read, and developing engaging programs for early years and elementary aged children, we’d love to hear from you.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about providing excellent patron service, contributing to a friendly and welcoming environment, and sharing their love of all things youth literature and media related. They’ll be comfortable wearing many hats as a member of a collaborative, close-knit team in this small but busy department serving youth from birth to high school.
Main responsibilities include:
- Providing friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable customer service, including reference and readers’ advisory.
- Collection development and maintenance of an assigned collection.
- Developing and presenting programs/story times that respond to the needs and interests of youth and their families.
- Assisting patrons using our computer equipment and technology, and connecting them to online resources.
Other duties may include:
- Representing the library at community events
- Community and school outreach
- Serving on library committees as assigned
- MLS from an ALA accredited graduate school or be close to finishing your degree.
- Experience working with youth, teens, and/or families in an educational or public library setting.
- Demonstrate a passion for public service
- Knowledge of youth and teen literature, programs and resources
- Strong computer and information technology skills and the ability to assist patrons with related queries
- $/hour is the pay range for new hires in this position. Offers are made within this range based on competencies, experience, and internal equity.
- Paid vacation, holiday, and sick time off.
