An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with Stepdown (PCU) experience to provide compassionate, high-quality care in a dynamic hospital setting. This contract role is based in Lincolnton, NC, and offers the chance to work within a supportive and family-oriented unit providing care for a diverse patient population.
Location Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with acuity levels not requiring mechanical ventilation.
- Manage patients with conditions such as CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain, stroke, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, AKI/CKD, and more.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms, manage cardiac drips, care for tracheostomies, chest tubes, and central lines.
- Perform wound care and dressing changes, and administer blood products.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including CNA support for ADLs, phlebotomy services, IV/VAT teams, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists.
- Utilize EPIC EMR and related technologies like Alaris IV pumps and Phillips monitors for patient care.
- Float within designated regional facilities as needed, with paid travel time during shifts if required.
Experience:
- Current RN licensure with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Minimum of 18 months progressive care unit nursing experience.
- Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and managing complex patient care scenarios.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with the care team.
- Willingness to float within the assigned region and adapt to varying unit needs.
- Weekend rotation every other weekend.
- No on-call responsibilities.
- Holiday coverage approximately 75%.
- Up to 6 days off approved during the contract excluding holidays, with the possibility of extending the contract to meet hours.
- Departmental orientation included.
- Scrub color:
Navy. - Free parking available.
- Patient to nurse ratios generally 1:4; occasionally 1:5 depending on acuity.
- Supportive charge nurse available for nursing care assistance.
