Position: Analytical Scientist
Reports to: Head of Analytical
Hours of Work: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Job Purpose

To generate accurate, reliable analytical data in accordance with established standard operating procedures, quality standards, and agreed project timelines.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform routine biochemical and physical analyses on test samples across multiple projects and stages of solid dose development, following approved standard operating procedures.
  • Record all analytical work accurately and contemporaneously in laboratory notebooks to maintain full traceability and data integrity.
  • Conduct peer reviews of analytical records to verify data quality and compliance.
  • Compile, interpret, and present scientific data in project, team, or cross-functional meetings as required.
  • Contribute to method optimisation and verification activities by performing supporting biochemical and physical tests.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive analytical protocols and technical reports.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across technical functions to support overall project and organisational objectives.
  • Ensure all activities comply with internal quality systems, regulatory expectations, and agreed timelines.
  • Maintain analytical, health and safety, quality, and laboratory operational standards at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
  • BSc degree in a relevant biological or life science discipline, with 2–3 years’ experience in a laboratory-based analytical role.
  • Hands‑on experience with techniques such as UV‑Vis, ELISA, HPLC, Karl Fischer, and DLS.
  • Understanding of, or experience within, an analytical quality control environment is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and observational skills, with the ability to critically evaluate and communicate findings.
  • Proactive approach to workload management and the ability to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team‑oriented environment.
