Responsibilities& Qualifications
The Novelis Lincolnshire team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Quality Engineer. This role is responsible for providing continuous monitoring and improvement of the quality management system and facilitating activities that progress the systems in ways that meet the business needs. The incumbent will work closely with all levels of plant personnel.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for the site Quality Management System (QMS) maintenance and update.
- Ensure the site remains up to date on all regulatory requirements and applicable standard certifications as required by the business unit. Primarily ISO 9001:2015, Applicable ASTM Sections, Aluminum Association, and any customer specific requirements.
- Collaborate with Customer representatives during customer directed audits.
- Plan and lead internal audit function and is responsible for planning and organization readiness for the annual registrar (SAI) and internal QMS audits.
- Responsible for managing our document control system and acting as a super-user for the site (ETQ).
- Support Quality Manager and Process Team on management reviews, major quality initiatives and process improvements.
- Use Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to resolve customer complaints and internal quality concerns. (Often involving provision of technical assistance and advice to the customer.)
- Conduct weekly meetings with internal supplier(s) and customers.
- Review the weekly status of open corrective actions relevant to the quality system.
- Assist Quality Leader with developing and implementing road maps for meeting requirements of our Novelis Operating System.
- Develop Power Bi Dashboards to create faster decision making and report critical KPIs to relevant interested parties.
- Review of FMEA and control plan along with process team.
- Implement Layered Process Audit (LPA) review and improving effectiveness of LPA audits.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field
- Two to five years of relevant experience in operating under a Quality Management System.
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal including the ability to present information clearly and persuasively with all levels in the organization.
- Desire to take initiative and develop a proactive relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and encouraging a collaborative relationship
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
- Proven computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
- Must also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives.
- Working knowledge of aluminum processes including hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing, tension leveling, slitting, and painting of aluminum coils
- Background in Lean / Six Sigma principles (Green/Black Belt) and A3 problem solving methodology.
- ISO 9001:2015 or IATF 16949 Lead Auditor Training and experience in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ASTM, and/or Aluminum Association standards
