Join Us in Shaping the Future of Service Excellence at Lincoln

Are you ready to take the next step in your career and help transform how staff and students experience the University of Lincoln?

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Service Delivery or Service Operations professional to join our newly established Shared Services team as a Shared Services Manager.

In this role, you will focus on the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of key service journeys, supporting the overall service strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build and shape a new function that will simplify processes, improve consistency, and enhance the overall service experience across the University.

About Shared Services

Shared Services brings together key professional services into a single, coordinated function. Rather than teams operating in isolation, a shared service model provides streamlined, consistent, and user‑centred support across the organisation. It focuses on:

  • Making it easier for staff and students to access services
  • Standardising and improving processes
  • Reducing duplication and complexity
  • Delivering efficient, high‑quality support
  • Creating clear service ownership and accountability

Our ambition is to make University processes simpler, clearer, and more responsive — ensuring our community can focus on what matters most: teaching, learning, research, and student success.

The Role

As a Shared Services Manager, You Will Take Ownership Of One Or More End‑to‑end Service Journeys Or Service Management Disciplines. You Will Ensure Services Are

  • Efficient and well‑governed
  • Designed around user needs
  • Measurable and continuously improving
  • Aligned with the University’s strategic priorities

Working collaboratively across departments and professional service areas, you will quickly build strong relationships and develop a deep understanding of our systems, culture, and ways of working. You will play a key role in driving meaningful change — whether through service design improvements, operational leadership, transition management, or embedding best practice in service management.

Your impact will be tangible: improving how colleagues and students experience the University every day.

In your first 100 days, you will focus on understanding key service journeys, building trusted relationships with stakeholders, identifying improvement opportunities, and helping to establish strong operational foundations for the Shared Services function.

About You

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience in service delivery, service operations, or service management
  • A passion for continuous improvement and enhancing user experience
  • The ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Analytical thinking and a data‑informed approach to decision‑making
  • Confidence operating in complex organisational environments

Whether your experience has been gained in higher education, the public sector, or a large, customer‑focused organisation, we are interested in how you can contribute to building an inclusive, high‑performing service culture.

Why Join Us?

You will be part of a supportive, innovative team that values collaboration, integrity, and professional growth. This is a rare opportunity to shape a new service culture at Lincoln — to build something meaningful, solve real organisational challenges, and contribute to a lasting improvement in how we support our community.

We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and actively encourage applications from people of all genders, backgrounds, and experiences.

If you are excited by the opportunity to create positive change and help others succeed, we would love to hear from you.
