Consultant Cardiologist special Interest in Cardiac Imaging

Overview

United Lincolnshire Hospitals are looking to recruit a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in Cardiac Imaging. We are searching for 2 dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join the team to support and expand the cardiac imaging service for the Trust. The post-holder will be based at the Lincolnshire Heart Centre but may be expected to provide some services from other hospital sites within the Trust.

This post entails a 1:12 in-patient consultant of the week cover based at Pilgrim Hospital Boston, a 1:16 consultant of the week cover based at CCU, Lincoln Hospital and a 1:8 pan-trust non-interventional cardiology on-call.

• Support and expansion of the cardiac imaging service (Cardiac MRI, Cardiac CT) across the Trust.
• Provide services from Lincolnshire Heart Centre and other sites within the Trust as required.
• Cover a 1:12 in-patient consultant of the week at Pilgrim Hospital Boston.
• Cover a 1:16 consultant of the week at CCU, Lincoln Hospital and a 1:8 pan-trust non-interventional cardiology on-call.
• Support and contribute to a comprehensive range of cardiac services including PPCI/PCI, MRI, CT, and echocardiography.
• Join and collaborate with existing cardiology teams and nursing or allied staff to ensure service delivery.
• Support the expansion of structural interventions and interest in echocardiography as part of service development.

• Cardiac MRI:
  Grantham site (~1800 MRI scans/year); second MRI at Lincoln site commenced November 2025; support MRI reporting at Lincoln and Grantham.
• Cardiac CT:
  Pan-trust service (~2000 CT scans/year); six CDCs (Skegness, Grantham, Lincoln, with Boston in development) capable of supporting cardiac CT; rapid access angina clinics with same-day cardiac CT across sites.
• Echocardiography:
  Performed on all three acute sites; transoesophageal echo at Pilgrim and Lincoln; exercise bike echo and dobutamine stress echo available; consultant sonographer support.
• Nuclear imaging: DPD scan service for cardiac amyloid expected in 2026; nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging at Lincoln; weekly mobile PET CT.

• Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in Cardiac Imaging.
• Interest in echocardiography would be useful to support expansion of structural interventions over the coming years.
