Position: Healthcare Assistant | Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

About the Role

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is transitioning its offender health contracts to a new provider. We continue to recruit for positions at HMP Morton Hall – a Category C male foreign national offender prison with a capacity of 353 inmates. Successful candidates will eventually be employed by the new provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care in a custodial environment, offering a positive nurse‑led health experience to patients generally with poor health outcomes.
  • Deliver the Primary Healthcare Team’s services: initial assessment and screening for all new patients, clinical triage, emergency response, care of minor illness and injuries, long‑term condition clinics and health promotion.
  • Support and lead nurse‑led clinics including health screening, phlebotomy, BBV screening, ECGs, and other clinical interventions.
  • Participate in emergency responses and other urgent clinical situations.
  • Work autonomously while being part of a supportive internal rotation team operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Requirements
  • Actively paid‑to‑work DBS check required; the cost (£26.40 standard or £54.40 enhanced) will be deducted from salary over the first two months.
  • Not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship; the role does not meet the pay or skill level for sponsorship.
  • Experience with NHS staff networks or multidisciplinary teamwork is desirable.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Enrolled or willing to enrol for the DBS Update Service (annual fee £16).
