You will lead the design, implementation and verification of FPGA logic for advanced hardware systems. The role involves ownership of firmware development that underpins RF enabled platforms, from early concept through to integration and validation on physical hardware.
You will work closely with software, RF and systems engineers to ensure reliable interfaces and robust system level performance. This position suits an engineer capable of taking technical ownership of FPGA activity within a small, multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, implement and verify FPGA based digital logic

* Develop and maintain firmware supporting RF and embedded hardware platforms

* Drive work from concept, architecture and prototyping through to integration and test

* Collaborate with software, RF and systems engineers on interface definition and system behaviour

* Support hardware bring up, debugging and verification on live systems
Essential Experience

* Strong background in FPGA development and digital logic design

* Proficiency in System Verilog or VHDL

* Experience with FPGA development tool chains, ideally including Quartus and TCL based workflows

* Solid understanding of timing analysis, timing closure, pipelining and performance optimisation

* Ability to develop supporting code in C or C++, plus scripting in Python or Matlab

* Experience integrating firmware into wider electronic or embedded systems

* Confident use of laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers

Desirable Experience

* Exposure to RF systems, SDR concepts and analogue or digital modulation techniques

* Understanding of analogue and digital electronics, including passive components, PLLs, mixers, buses and memory architectures

* Ability to interpret and make minor edits to schematics or PCB layouts, with hands on build experience considered a plus

* Interest in adjacent engineering areas such as RF testing, software integration or laboratory based development
