Position reports to: Vice President of Sales
Travel: 40-50%

What you will be doing
  • Supporting Garant product lines with focus on collaborative cooperation between WHC and Garant, Garant awareness in North America and growth opportunities.
  • Working closely with major paper bag manufacturers, companies that make e-commerce bags, block bottom bags or other types of variable sized bags.
  • Generating and executing sales strategies specifically coordinated for each account, taking into consideration different business units, manufacturing plants, technology differentiators, and the evolving packaging landscape.
  • Leading specific projects from opportunity identification through commissioning. This includes commercial responsibility for scope of supply accuracy, pricing and overall customer satisfaction. This also includes managing the project through our internal engineering stage gate process.
  • Reporting indirectly into German headquarters and working closely with Garant team members.
  • Identifying opportunity areas to solve real world flexible packaging challenges. Work to educate customers on how Garant is a complete, turnkey, solutions provider with bestinclass service and spare parts availability.
  • Facilitating / leading technology sessions ensuring exceptional presentation materials are available and customers’ expectations are exceeded.
  • Screen market for future product and technology needs. Also, in relation to the ever changing sustainability landscape (paper vs. plastic).
What you may be asked to do
  • Lead internal strategy sessions as needed.
  • Organize internal sales meeting activities as needed.
  • Present at trade shows and conferences on behalf of Garant.

  • High comfort level learning the entire Garant product line and leading initial customer call and answering all types of questions.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with ability to craft clear messages to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to relate with and influence different types of people and personalities.
  • Proven track record managing change and uncovering hidden opportunity.
  • Proven track record managing large and small accounts and navigating complex projects, contracts, and negotiations.
  • In depth knowledge of leading packaging manufacturers and confidence in your ability to manage high profile projects, customers, and individuals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, packaging or applicable technical degree.
  • Min. 10 years of experience in flexible packaging or closely related industry.
  • Experienced track record of establishing and executing impactful sales strategies.
  • Must be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong background in creating and maintaining customer relationships in highly competitive industry.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to tailor messages to highly technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Proficient with MS programs (Excel, Word, SharePoint & Teams). Salesforce experience preferred.
