A highly qualified individual with a passion for community health is required to develop and implement a comprehensive, quality fitness program that improves the overall physical health and wellness of Village residents. The program supports outcome‑based fitness goals through appropriate assessment, exercise techniques, and education. This role integrates with other life‑enrichment programming to enhance the physical, mental, and spiritual well‑being of those the Village serves.
The Fitness Manager ensures adherence to established protocols, policies, guidelines, and the structure for the delivery of fitness services, and supports the Village’s mission, values, and hospitality (PRIDE) expectations.
- Full‑time, Salaried, Exempt
- Develop, implement, and manage the daily operation of the Village fitness program (excluding the Parkinson’s‑specific program) that meets residents’ needs and interests, ensuring optimal workout experiences and goal attainment.
- Design customized fitness plans that promote healthy behaviours and support desired fitness outcomes.
- Oversee daily operations of fitness centres and pools, ensuring equipment is maintained, functional, and housed in a safe, clean environment. Recommend innovative equipment to support fitness outcomes.
- Lead a well‑trained fitness staff of personal trainers and group exercise instructors, emphasising PRIDE, motivation, and member achievement. Hold regular staff meetings to share updates, successes, and best practices.
- Manage orientation programming, ensuring all necessary forms are completed and members are thoroughly oriented before facility use.
- Utilise fitness‑management software to streamline scheduling, goal tracking, and resident education, progressing toward a more paperless system.
- Build and manage a class schedule that maximises attendance and staff efficiency while supporting outcomes.
- Develop fitness‑related presentations and newsletters aligned with current industry trends.
- Monitor industry trends to introduce innovative programmes and elevate the Village fitness offering.
- Track fitness financials, ensuring monthly revenue targets are met or exceeded and budgeted outcomes are achieved.
- Promote and secure personal and semi‑personal training clients to meet budget requirements.
- Measure and monitor metrics demonstrating program effectiveness and member health improvements.
- Maintain accurate membership records and analyse data to identify trends, set goals, and improve retention and acquisition.
- Drive marketing efforts in collaboration with Mar Comm to increase awareness of fitness services and programmes.
- Fill in for classes when instructors are unavailable.
- Ensure proper billing for fee‑required services.
- Guarantee safety of all members by providing instructor training.
- Collaborate with outpatient therapy and refer qualifying participants, fostering reciprocal referrals.
- Host biannual fitness advisory committee meetings and implement feedback.
- Offer associate fitness classes when interest permits.
- Collaborate with other life‑enrichment programmes to provide a cohesive team experience.
- Maintain certification records for all staff members.
- Comply with all safety regulations and requirements.
- Handle stress well and maintain positive workplace relationships.
- Uphold acceptable standards of conduct, performing consistently with P.R.I.D.E.
The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.
Education- Bachelor of Science degree in fitness, physiology, exercise science, kinesiology or related field required.
- Master’s degree in exercise science or related field preferred.
- Five (5) years’ experience in fitness or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years in a fitness‑management position.
- Experience directing exercise or activity programmes for senior adults required.
