Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) & Community Response Coordinator

The mission of Brave Be Child Advocacy Center (Brave Be) is to respond to child abuse through a team approach designed to reduce trauma, seek justice, and provide hope and healing for children and their families.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) & Community Response Coordinator is responsible for reviewing all reports of child abuse and neglect in assigned counties with a 17-county service area and coordinating a response with law enforcement and NDHHS in compliance with Nebraska Revised Statutes. This role involves promoting the utilization of Brave Be services, facilitating case reviews with partner agencies, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary team members.

The role coordinates responses to community requests for assistance, including managing phone logs; maintains case tracking systems; and organizes training opportunities to strengthen investigative and treatment processes for child victims and their non‑offending caregivers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review all accepted reports of child abuse and neglect in a 17-county service area received by the NDHHS Hotline to be included on team agendas and case lists.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and NDHHS to coordinate the response for those cases under Nebraska Revised Statute 28‑728 to 28‑731 flagged for a child advocacy center response.
  • Contact the assigned multidisciplinary team members regarding the utilization of a child advocacy center per state statute.
  • Promote the utilization of Brave Be in accordance with team protocols and Nebraska Revised Statute 28‑728 to 28‑731.
  • Work closely with the county attorney’s office in facilitating the multidisciplinary investigative and treatment team case review. Case review may include active child abuse investigations, DHHS non‑court involved cases, and community referrals.
  • Provide support to community members seeking assistance through the phone log system of response.
  • Conduct community outreach within designated counties to increase awareness and promote utilization of Brave Be services.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas and minutes for the multidisciplinary team.
  • Summarize and distribute the decisions and action plans of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Update and maintain case tracking system as needed, and provide statistical data as requested.
  • Model facilitation skills for the multidisciplinary team without driving meeting outcomes and keep the process solution focused.
  • Promote effective communication, coordination, and accountability across agency lines.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to address issues as they arise to resolve conflict.
  • Maintain and update written interagency agreements designed to formalize cooperation and commitment to CAC/MDT policy ensuring continuity of practice. The interagency agreement must be signed by the leadership of participating agencies and reviewed annually and re‑executed upon change in practice, policy or current agency leadership as outlined in the National Children’s Alliance Standards for Accredited Members.
  • Maintain and update written protocols that address the functions of the multidisciplinary team, the roles and responsibilities of each discipline, and their interaction with Brave Be. Protocols are developed with input from the multidisciplinary team, reviewed minimally every 3 years, and updated as needed to reflect current practice as outlined in the National Children’s Alliance Standards for Accredited Members.
  • Provide routine opportunities for multidisciplinary team members to give feedback and suggestions regarding the procedures and operations of Brave Be and the MDT.
  • Utilize the Outcome Measurement Survey (OMS) twice a year in an effort to seek feedback and develop an action plan for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Director of Training & Community Engagement to provide or arrange for relevant training or other educational opportunities for the MDT and community, focused on issues relevant to child abuse awareness & prevention, as well as investigation, prosecution, and treatment for children and their non‑offending caregivers.
