$21.36/hour PLUS $3.00/hour facility differential for hours worked.

The Nebraska State Penitentiary is seeking maintenance workers to perform daily and routine maintenance throughout our facility.

• Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Perform skilled carpentry work in major renovation and construction of buildings, structures, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture, and cabinets.
• Schedule and perform specialized preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery to ensure necessary inspection, adjustment, and replacement of parts.
• Supervise inmates working in the maintenance department.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts and tool logs.
• Follow all policies and procedures relating to tool control and purchasing of tools, equipment, and parts.
• Handle maintenance‑related purchases and statement reconciliation.

Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or another building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.

Applicants must pass a medical exam, a drug test at a randomly announced time, and successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program at the Staff Training Academy.
