Description Of WorkThe Women, Immunity and Sexual Health (WISH) Lab at the University of Nebraska‑Lincoln (PI: Tierney Lorenz, ) invites applications for a full‑time Research Specialist. The lab uses psychophysiology, biosample collection and analysis, clinical interviewing, and surveys to examine the interactions between women’s sexual, mental and physical health. The successful candidate will play an integral role in every stage of research, including (1) recruitment and collection of human subject data, (2) assay of biosamples for immune and endocrine factors, (3) analysis of data, and (4) assisting in the preparation of grants and manuscripts.
In addition, in their managerial capacity they will perform administrative duties (e.g., IRB administration, purchasing) and help train and supervise lab personnel (e.g., undergraduate research assistants; lab technical staff in other units collaborating with the WISH lab). There are resources including dedicated time to conduct independent research, co‑author manuscripts, and present research at professional conferences. This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing graduate studies in psychology and/or neuroscience, as it will foster expertise in a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches in these fields.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent education/experience and 1 year of experience working in a research laboratory.
- Experience working in a research laboratory including human subjects research.
- Experience with Excel, and Microsoft suite of shared file servers and shared work spaces.
- Experience with project management (e.g., tracking and ordering supplies, financial recordkeeping, scheduling).
- Experience with dissemination of research (e.g., conference presentations; scholarly publication).
- Experience working with biological samples such as saliva, blood, and/or vaginal fluid, and safety protocols for BSL‑2 containment.
- Experience with psychophysiology experimental methods, such as electrocardiography or vaginal photoplethysmography.
- Experience training students in human subjects research.
- Experience in a research laboratory that uses biological/psycho-physiological research methods.
- Experience with scientific research in human sexuality.
- Experience with programming environments for statistical analysis (e.g., R, MATLAB, Python).
- Wet lab skills such as preparation of solutions, pipetting, and handling chemicals and biological samples.
- Certification of completion of laboratory safety training including biological hazard safety and blood borne pathogens training.
- Experience with Acq Knowledge, Dedoose, and other specialized research software.
$21.00/hr minimum
