Job Summary:
As a Molecular Biology Research Technician (Temporary), you will:
- Carry out projects to support the major research objectives by collecting and analyzing data
- Maintain laboratory records
- Organize and maintain lab space
- Maintain laboratory and chemical inventory and coordinate ordering with PI to replenish as needed
- Perform general lab housekeeping including autoclaving biohazardous waste as needed

Temporary employees may be appointed for a period of up to two years. Those appointed for more than six months are eligible for benefits from the beginning of the appointment, provided the position is half-time (.50 FTE) or greater. Those appointed for six months or less are not eligible for benefits. Benefits for eligible temporary employees include the following: vacation and sick leave, and health, dental, vision and life insurance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience in molecular biology.
- Familiarity with using computers to analyze data.
- Familiarity with reading scientific literature.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
- One year of independent research experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Ability to critically evaluate data and develop independent research ideas.
