Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring a valid NE or Compact RN license and at least one year of experience.
Responsibilities- 42-bed Medical/Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6; ratios of 1:6 occur at least once per week
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available with a 1:10-12 ratio
- Heparin is the only titratable drip used on this unit
- Telemetry monitoring is available on the floor with a centralized telemetry station
- Respiratory therapy is available 24 hours on the unit
- A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
- 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)
- Weekend and holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating may be required to PCU or Burn units
- EMR:
Epic - Orientation consists of one week of classroom instruction followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
- A pass/fail open-book exam is administered on the Friday of orientation week; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure results in contract termination
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current BLS certification required; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- A valid driver's license is required for consideration and will be used to verify permanent address
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (verified by driver's license)
