Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with at least 1 year of experience, BLS certification, and an active NE or compact state RN license for night shifts in an acute care setting.

• Work in a 42-bed Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital
• Typical ratios are 1:5-6, with a 1:6 ratio required at least once weekly
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
• Heparin is the only titratable drip on the unit
• 24-hour respiratory therapy support on the floor
• Telemetry monitoring available with a centralized Tele station
• Nurse aids or patient care techs are present with ratios of 1:10-12
• Required to float to PCU or Burn units as needed
• Night shifts of 12 hours ); weekends and holidays required as needed
• Epic is used for electronic charting
• Must pass an open-book exam on skills learned during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
• First week includes classroom training plus two 12-hour floor orientation shifts
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
• RTO must be requested upfront and may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
• Holiday and weekend shift coverage is required as necessary
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver’s license
• No call requirement for this assignment
• Charge nurse is present on each shift

• Active NE or compact RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Driver’s license required for verification of 50-mile radius rule
• Candidates must not have held full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any Common Spirit-affiliated facility within the past year
• Professional references: one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
