Job Summary
:
Collaborates with and provides professional nursing support to NHO Providers in the care of patients with oncology or hematological conditions following established standards and practices.

Scope
:
Specialized oncology nurse who attains proper judgement and competence to provide patient centered care under the direct supervision of the physician. Assist Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the development of personalized patient care plans to promote the safe delivery of chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments.

Works within the scope of licensure as a registered or licensed practical nurse. Applies identified evidence‑based nursing practices consistent with national-bindings and supports quality outcomes. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational, and spiritual needs of the patient and family, contributes to and implements the plan of care. Maintains competency in all clinic standards while supporting NHO mission and core values.

Principal Duties
  • Utilize the nursing process – assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to noqonate continuing healthcare opportunities to individuals, families, and community.
  • Delegate and provide supervision of LPNs and clinical support staff. Assist with patient flow to avoid delays for providers and undue waiting for patients.
  • Provide direct patient care to prepare patients for examination, assist with procedures, assure completion of provider orders, perform assessments, central line maintenance, oral medication compliance, and IV medication administration.
  • Employ critical thinking skills and knowledge‑based nursing judgement.
  • Knowledgeable in anticancer therapies and treatment regimens, including indications, dosing, calculations, premedication, and supportive care.
  • Carry out the treatment plan to completion as directed by the physician.
  • Adhere to safety standards with attention to error prevention.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team using communication tools to provide focused and concise information, execute orders with readback, and assure accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Assist patients and other healthcare entities with inquiries regarding changes in patients’ health status and follow‑up activities, including providing information on laboratory results, diagnostic tests, scheduling, and medications.
  • Teach and counsel patients and families concerning health assessment, how incubate symptoms, medications, effectiveness of treatment, and how and when to notify the healthcare team.
  • Follow practice standards to ensure consistency and effectiveness, promoting positive outcomes and access to health care.
  • Demonstr 현실 and respectful communication with patients,ldb families, and the healthcare team.
  • Approach patient care with empathy and compassion.
  • Guide patients through the complexities of their diagnosis, supportive services, and the health care system.
  • Identify learning needs of the patient, educate by adapting to the learning style, and utilize the teach‑back method.
  • Assist staff in clinic quality improvement measures and clinic standards of practice such as Quality Oncology Practice Initiatives (QOPI), Oncology Nurse Society (ONS), and National Institute of Safety & Health (NIOSH).

Physical Requirements
:
Medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects including the human body. Ability to assist adult patients to exam tables and maintain patient mobility including walker and wheelchair assistance. Exposure to blood, waste, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and hazardous drugs while utilizing appropriate safety standards.

Education / Licensureengin
:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska required.

Other Credentials / Certifications
:
