Job Description

Utility Operator - Co-Gen - Lincoln, NE

This is a full-time, hourly position.

Summary of Job: Utility Operator position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Lincoln, NE Cogeneration facility. Utility Operators work directly with and support the Boiler Operator according to the job duties listed below. Progression into boiler house operation is expected.

Responsibilities
  • Active participant in the facility safety program to help ensure the safety of all personnel and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Recognize environmental and safety hazards and take actions to ensure they are mitigated so as not to affect employee safety, process quality, and environmental compliance
  • Operate specific equipment including forklift and skid steer loader
  • Laboratory analysis on water samples to ensure proper boiler and cooling tower water treatment
  • Water treatment chemical handling
  • Cooling Tower operational support for the entire facility
  • Daily/weekly/monthly equipment checks
  • Data entry
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise
  • Preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Housekeeping tasks
  • General labor
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour shift, rotating between days and nights
  • Willing and able to work overtime to cover for coworker vacation or call-ins
Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented team player, with solid verbal communication skills
  • Proficient using computer software programs such as Microsoft Office
  • Able to read and interpret documents and drawings, possess sound troubleshooting skills, and write detailed reports
  • Have the ability to affect change through diagnosis, designing, and implementing solutions
  • Must be able to work independently, assess various situations, and make solid, reliable decisions
Education and Experience
  • Education and Training Preferred: High School diploma or GED
  • Experience Preferred: Experience in boiler operation and/or water treatment
Physical Requirements
  • Applicant must have regular, prompt attendance
  • Have the ability to climb stairs and ladders, perform some lifting (50 lbs), sit and stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, working with heights, bending, kneeling, and be able to wear a respirator
  • Candidate must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and a dusty environment
Shift Description and Compensation
  • $29.34 per hour
  • 12-hour shifts, 7 to 7
  • Standard rotation is four shifts 7a-7p, four days off, four shifts 7p-7a, four days off

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.

Pay and Benefits

The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

The pay for this position is expected to be:

$28.30/hr + shift differential
