Paint Specialist

The Paint Specialist applies primers, topcoats, and spray paints to aircraft surfaces following manufacturer and customer specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and safety guidelines. The role includes masking, sanding, and preparing aircraft for paint, maintaining equipment, documenting work, and ensuring quality standards in a safe working environment with PPE and fall protection.

• With minimal supervision, proficiently apply primers and topcoats using appropriate techniques and knowledge of primers. Maintain pressure pots and paint guns.
• With minimal supervision, mask and paint stripes per designer debrief and knowledge of paint products and paint mixing.
• With minimal supervision, identify masked areas or areas requiring polishing, and address problem areas such as working rivets, corrosion‑damaged ble’s, damaged windows, etc., using mechanical sanding methods.
• With minimal supervision, mask aircraft and apply silver tape per manufacturer and Duncan Aviation approved procedures. Remove old paint with liquid remover and pressure washer.
• With minimal supervision, paint landing gear, fuel caps, antennas, and door frames per designer debrief. Inspect paint and report quality issues to crew leader or team leader.
• Assure quality through visual inspection and perform final pre‑paint prep by blowing, wiping, and tacking entire surface. Identify and report problem areas to crew or team leaders.
• With supervision, prepare, sign off, and understand documents for record keeping as required by Duncan Aviation approved procedures and FAA regulations (e.g., turnovers, removal sheets, work order sheets, personal training log).
• With minimal supervision, smooth, etch, and apply conversion coatings to aluminum surfaces with acid washes to ensure primer and paint adhesion.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

• Licenses/Certificates: Man lift required; respirator fit required.
• Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required.
• Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs.; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing for prolonged periods.
• Environmental: Tolerates extreme temperatures and noisy environments.

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Previous mechanical experience or auto body accreditation preferred.

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year aircraft paint experience or three years related experience required.

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years aircraft paint experience required.
