Strategic Project Manager

Overview

The New York City Housing Authority (“NYCHA”) is the largest public housing authority in the nation, providing decent, affordable housing for low‑ and moderate‑income New Yorkers. Resident Services connects NYCHA residents to critical programs and engages them around agency and community priorities. The Office of the Vice President for Resident Services oversees the daily operation of Residents Engagement and Family Partnerships departments.

• Act as liaison between the VP and Senior Directors, identifying problem areas and developing solutions; ensure timely flow of information.
• Provide strategic support and partnership to implement change management processes and execute business process improvement plans.
• Identify and support key operational and project‑management processes and systems to enhance coordination among the Resident Services leadership team and staff.
• Track and evaluate metrics for the division, reviewing and analyzing departmental operations and service delivery; recommend enhancements for effectiveness.
• Handle institutional matters on behalf of the VP, including budgetary and personnel issues, managing correspondence, and overseeing key projects to strengthen organizational infrastructure.
• Attend meetings with staff on behalf of the VP; serve as liaison to other NYCHA departments, representing Resident Services in internal and external working groups and committees.
• Manage special projects as requested.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work listed above.

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities related to the duties, or high school graduation with six years of such experience; equivalency considered. One year of experience as described above is required.
• Proven consensus‑builder experience as a community organizer and builder, with knowledge of best practices.
• Experience leading complex projects, developing systems, and applying best practices.
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, quantitative, and qualitative skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with NYCHA residents or in public housing communities.
• Self‑starter, strategic thinker, problem solver with exceptional project‑management ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and virtual collaboration platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).

• NOTE:
  
  This position requires ability to work evenings/weekends as needed and to travel between NYCHA properties citywide.
