Job Description

We’re looking for a Reconciliation Team Lead to join our Payment Operations Reconciliation team in our Tallinn office. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a leader of our Reconciliation teams and help save millions more people money.

Your mission:

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard‑earned money with the world’s first platform to offer true multi‑currency banking
. Your mission is to help build and develop a strong Reconciliation team and support specialists on their personal growth paths.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Operations Team:
As a Team Lead in the Reconciliation domain, you’ll help scale and evolve our reconciliation systems and processes that support global products such as Spend, Treasury, Assets, Wise Platform, and more. You’ll lead the technical direction and execution within your team, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of our reconciliation infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Driving the strategic roadmap for the Reconciliation team, identifying and implementing opportunities for system improvements, automation, and risk reduction.
  • Leading and mentoring a cross‑functional team of specialists, providing guidance and best practices in process design and automation.
  • Collaborating with Reco leads and global stakeholders to translate high‑level product and operational goals into actionable projects and solutions.
  • Owning critical reconciliation and payment processes, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and traceability across systems, including support for audits.
  • Partnering with engineers and operations teams to improve internal tooling, driving the development of scalable, efficient, and resilient systems.
  • Implementing monitoring and alerting frameworks to track key performance metrics and proactively identifying reconciliation gaps or system anomalies.
  • Acting as a Reconciliation domain Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point, supporting the team with problem‑solving.
  • Contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making, providing input on team structure, capacity planning, and long‑term technical direction.
Qualifications
  • You’re eligible to work in Estonia, we don’t support visa (including residency permits) for this role
  • You have at least 1 year of leadership experience with a background in finance / banking / audit.
  • You have a proven track record of moving metrics and reaching your KPI goals.
  • You’re a great communicator, straight up and honest. You can adapt your communication style to different audiences. You’re able to persuade others and you aren’t afraid to challenge something when you need to.
  • You know how to use data to prioritise tasks that have the most value‑add to customers' and measure the impact.
  • You’re comfortable working within teams that face complex issues and taking charge in difficult situations.
  • You enjoy creating an inspiring team environment where ideas are shared and openness is valued. You’re comfortable and composed when either giving or receiving feedback.
