Overview
The IT Director for the University Police Department is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all information technology operations that support public safety functions. This includes direct supervision of a multidisciplinary IT team that manages police technologies, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), surveillance systems (CCTV), electronic access control, and departmental infrastructure. The IT Director plays a critical role in planning, implementing, and evaluating technology strategies that align with the operational and security needs of the department while also supporting the university’s broader IT standards and objectives.

Responsibilities- Provide leadership and supervision for the IT team supporting public safety operations.
- Oversee technologies including GIS, surveillance systems, electronic access control, and department infrastructure.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate technology strategies that meet operational and security needs and align with university IT standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proven experience delivering multiple successful projects on time, meeting client requirements, with high team satisfaction, including complex projects with multiple staff and clients.
- Experience managing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise Windows-based systems and information systems auditing experience.
- Experience performing IT general controls and application control reviews.
- Knowledge of current Microsoft Windows products, Microsoft Active Directory and management thereof, hardware/software troubleshooting, and TCP/IP networking.
- Demonstrated or developing knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server; experience with configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of physical security systems (surveillance cameras, access control, alarms), GIS applications, and related public safety systems.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience, including project management.
- Strong understanding of information technology concepts and processes; leadership experience directing IT teams (7+ years preferred).
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), MCSA, A+, and Server+ preferred.
Posted Salary: $110,000/yr. minimum
