General Summary
Supervises and coordinates clinical laboratory staffing and operations. Ensures optimal patient care standards through daily interaction and role modeling. Supports and facilitates a respectful and collaborative relationship between medical staff, hospital staff and laboratory staff. Maintains quality control of processes and product inventory used in phlebotomy and data control.

Required Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of clinical phlebotomy methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of all clinical laboratory policies and technical and procedural changes.
- Knowledge of performance improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.
- Knowledge of management and leadership principles and practices.
- Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
- Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.
- Ability to make operational and management decisions in response to changing conditions.
- Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
- Ability to provide on‑the‑job training in laboratory sample collection.
- Ability to develop written policies and procedures, memoranda and performance evaluations with measurable behaviors.
- Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Associate's degree or two (2) years progress towards a bachelor degree preferred. Minimum of two (2) years phlebotomy experience required within the last five (5) years required.
Other Credentials / CertificationsMedical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), or Phlebotomy Certification (PBT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
