Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Sonographer with at least 2 years of experience and ARDMS and BLS (AHA) certifications to join an acute care ultrasound team.
Responsibilities- Position is in an acute care setting on the Sonography/Ultrasound unit
- Performs all general ultrasound studies, breast biopsies, interventional radiology procedures, OR cases, NICU baby imaging, and dopplers
- Patient caseload averages 10-12 scans per tech per day
- Department uses Siemens Sequoia equipment and Trophon for probe cleaning
- EMR is EPIC and PACS is McKesson; experience preferred
- Shift is Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM with 8-hour shifts
- Call requirement is every other weekend (Friday 7:00 PM–Saturday 7:00 AM, Saturday 7:00 AM–Sunday 7:00 AM), and two rotating weekday nights (7:00 PM–6:00 AM)
- When volumes are low, may help transport patients for other modalities
- Must communicate and document well with radiologists and other healthcare providers
- Slate grey scrubs are required
- Orientation provided by department supervisor
- Cell phone communication is mandatory; personal and work email addresses will be used
- Radiologist is in-house during shifts
- No IV starts required
- Must provide a copy of the driver's license for eligibility verification based on a 50-mile radius rule
- Rotating holiday coverage is expected (2 holidays, if within contract)
- Returning candidates must not have been employed by the health system in the past year
- Minimum 2 years of sonography experience required
- Active ARDMS certification in general, cardiac, or vascular sonography
- Current BLS (AHA) certification
- Active state or compact license required if applicable; pending licenses not accepted
- Experienced in breast imaging, procedures, and NICU imaging
- Driver's license required for employment eligibility standards
- Two professional references required, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
