PRN Speech Language Pathologist

Location: Lincoln, NE

Reports To: Director of Rehab

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Brookside
, a leading skilled nursing facility. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in our diverse resident population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.

Work Environment

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Evaluation – Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
  • Treatment and Intervention – Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions; adapt techniques to meet each resident’s needs and goals.
  • Documentation and Reporting – Maintain accurate records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes; prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork – Work closely with nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists to provide holistic care; participate in care planning meetings and contribute to care strategies.
  • Education and Training – Provide education to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Compliance and Standards – Adhere to facility policies, state, and federal regulations, and professional standards; ensure all practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in Nebraska.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) preferred.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient‑centered approach to care and commitment to improving residents’ quality of life.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess and interact with residents.
