Job SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Brookside
, a leading skilled nursing facility. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in our diverse resident population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.
This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.
Responsibilities- Assessment and Evaluation – Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
- Treatment and Intervention – Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions; adapt techniques to meet each resident’s needs and goals.
- Documentation and Reporting – Maintain accurate records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes; prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families.
- Collaboration and Teamwork – Work closely with nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists to provide holistic care; participate in care planning meetings and contribute to care strategies.
- Education and Training – Provide education to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Compliance and Standards – Adhere to facility policies, state, and federal regulations, and professional standards; ensure all practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.
- Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in Nebraska.
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) preferred.
- Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient‑centered approach to care and commitment to improving residents’ quality of life.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess and interact with residents.
