Summary

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ?

Service Delivery Area? comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services. The primary purpose of this position is to register patients using the EHR/RPMS. Conducts patient interviews to obtain demographic, third party resource and Tribal affiliation. Refers patients to the Benefits Coordinator to see if they qualify for other resources, if they don’t have Insurance.

Insures all required Patient/Insurance information is entered correctly.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assists clients to complete or update forms for the Patient Registration system by obtaining pertinent patient registration information through interview, electronic, or mailed correspondence prior to client receiving services; when possible, input data simultaneously during the interview. Assist in overflow of scheduling appointments, answering incoming calls and assisting Medical Records. View and verify Tribal Enrollment with other Tribes and our Enrollment Department.

Operates Patient Registration and related components of EHR/RPMS and other PTN computer systems to enter, store process and retrieve client registration information. Maintains, keys, enters, updates, and verifies all alternate resource data necessary for patient and all third party payers; verifies insurance coverage by phone and enters information into EHR/ RPMS registration records; obtains signatures for file on forms for alternate resources.

Receives training and maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops including customer service, IHS Patient Registration data entry and report generation training sessions; reviewing instructional manual and publications and establishing personal networks. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes. Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Performs other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

Minimum:
High school diploma or GED
Two year of office experience.
Two year, experience working in an outpatient clinic.
High level of attention to detail.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, education, character, and criminal background checks.

Preferred:
Associate's degree in medical office administrative assistance or similar degree.
Valid driver's license and be insurable.
Two year of experience of medical office coordination.
One year of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
