Location: UH Lakewood Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri (101 Truman Medical Center)
Position Type: Full time
Work Schedule: 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday–Friday; 40 hours per week
Job Description: Are you passionate about mental health and love the idea of working side‑by‑side with medical professionals to make a real difference in people’s lives? We’re on the lookout for a Behavioral Health Consultant to join our Primary Care/Health Home team—someone who thrives on collaboration, values whole‑person care, and brings warmth and expertise to every interaction.
What You’ll Be Doing- Screen and assess individuals for mental health and substance use concerns
- Provide brief, targeted behavioral health interventions to help patients make meaningful changes
- Offer behavioral support strategies that empower patients to manage chronic illnesses and improve overall health
- Collaborate with primary care teams to address behavioral health needs in real‑time
- Share knowledge and educate patients using tailored, easy‑to‑understand resources
- Be a vital part of the clinic’s mission by supporting a team‑based care approach
- Deliver direct care and consultation that meets all professional and program standards
- Prioritize safety, quality, and inclusivity in every interaction
- Ensure care is always age‑appropriate and patient‑centered
- Bring a friendly, approachable attitude to every patient, visitor, and colleague
- Stay sharp and informed—keeping up with all compliance, licensing, and ethical standards
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent education/experience combo
- Current licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to read and speak English fluently
