OverviewThe Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) Right of Way (ROW) Division is seeking an organized, energetic, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. As a ROW Title Agent, you will work closely with colleagues who design required rights of way, appraise, and negotiate property. Your role will be crucial in supporting the acquisition of real estate for safe and effective transportation purposes.

- Review Real Estate Indexes in the Register of Deeds offices.
- Examine various public records, either online or at the county courthouse.
- Determine ownership, liens, and encumbrances.
- Obtain copies of required documents.
- Create a five-year chain of title.
- Enter information into NDOT's proprietary software program.
- Assist ROW Designers, Appraisers, and Negotiators in understanding recorded real estate documents.
- Perform occasional title research for the Attorney General's office and other state agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Education and/or experience in real estate appraisal or valuation, relocation assistance, property management, public relations, public policy, mediation, or public/business administration.
Preferred Qualifications: Three years’ experience in title research and/or real estate law and practices. Registered Abstracter and/or Title Insurance license.
Other- Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Knowledge of real estate terminology and practices.
- Knowledge of Certificates of Title and/or Real Estate Title Commitments.
- Basic computer and word processing skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
