Job DescriptionWe’re looking for an Investment Specialist to play a key role in supporting the governance of our Master Trust and Independent Governance Committee (IGC). You’ll help ensure strong investment oversight, trusted decision‑making and excellent outcomes for members. Working closely with Trustees, senior stakeholders and internal experts, you’ll contribute to a robust, forward‑looking investment strategy that reflects market developments, regulatory requirements and responsible investment priorities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the Mastertrust Board and Investment Committee with investment matters and coordinating input from internal teams and external advisers
- Liaising with DC investment, strategy and client teams to shape and review the scheme’s investment proposition
- Preparing, drafting and collating papers, agendas and materials for Trustee and Committee meetings
- Presenting market insights, risks, opportunities and governance considerations to support Trustee decision‑making
- Drafting, maintaining and updating investment governance policies, Statements of Investment Principles and Implementation Statements
- Analysing scheme data to contribute to Value for Member assessments, Chair’s Statements and IGC reporting
- Collaborating with the Stewardship team on voting policies, stewardship activity and climate‑related reporting, including TCFD
- Managing relationships with external advisers and supporting broader Mastertrust activities such as regulatory documents, member engagement and service provider reviews
Who we’re looking for:
- Strong knowledge of DC workplace pensions and the wider investment and regulatory landscape
- Experience working within both trust‑based and contract‑based pension governance structures
- Understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors and investment stewardship
- Confidence influencing senior stakeholders, boards and committees in a clear and credible way
- Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across teams and with external advisers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to distil complex information into concise, actionable insights
- Highly organised, with strong multitasking skills and the ability to coordinate diverse inputs
- A proactive, solution‑focused approach, with strong commercial awareness and a relevant investment qualification (preferred)
