Job Description

In this role, you will serve as the Controller for a manufacturing business unit within a highly respected organization. You will lead all core accounting functions including month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, audit coordination, and compliance while elevating plant-level cost accounting across the operation.

This position blends traditional controllership responsibilities with hands‑on manufacturing finance leadership. You will partner closely with operations to improve inventory accuracy, margin visibility, and financial reporting tied to production performance.

This is a hybrid role with required travel approximately one week per month to maintain strong operational alignment and visibility within manufacturing operations. Preference will be given to candidates located within reasonable proximity to the Midwest operation or those willing to relocate.

Responsibilities
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Oversee budgeting, rolling forecasts, and weekly cash flow forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
  • Serve as primary liaison for external audit and tax partners
  • Manage and develop the accounting team (AP, AR, payroll, staff accounting)
  • Strengthen plant-level cost accounting, inventory management, and margin analysis
  • Partner with operations to analyze manufacturing variances and improve reporting
  • Present financial results and KPIs to senior leadership
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Manufacturing cost accounting experience required
  • Prior Controller, Plant Controller, or Assistant Controller experience preferred
  • Strong background in standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
  • Experience leading and developing accounting teams
  • ERP system experience required
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $160,000 excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Final compensation will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
