About the RoleThe Role:
Egis’ Environmental Division has been recognized over the past 30+ years as providing high-level deliverables and advice to a variety of clients, throughout Ontario and the rest of Canada. Our Environmental Division currently consists of experts in the following fields:
Cultural Heritage, Contaminant and Waste, Hydrogeology, Environmental Assessment, Natural Science and Environmental Engineering.
We are looking to expand our Environmental division in Ontario by hiring a motivated Cultural Heritage Specialist to support our growing Cultural Heritage team. The Egis Cultural Heritage team provides built heritage resource and cultural landscape services. Our areas of specialty include large, complex projects involving multiple stakeholder communities and often involving multiple levels of jurisdiction. We are looking for a Junior Cultural Heritage Specialist to work alongside the Cultural Heritage Manager who is enthusiastic about supporting the delivery of heritage projects across a range of public and private sector clients.
As a Junior Cultural Heritage Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in preserving and maintaining cultural heritage resources and ensuring their long-term sustainability.

This role is open to candidates who can work out of any of our Ontario offices including Markham, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa or North Bay and offers hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the team in preparing cultural heritage deliverables and complete key tasks required for heritage documents including, historical property research (e.g., archival research including OnLand, , Tax Assessment Rolls, historical map reviews, etc.), and screening for and developing inventories of built heritage resources and cultural heritage landscapes;
- Complete heritage evaluations using Ontario Regulation 9/06 and Ontario Regulation 10/06;
- Travel and conduct field surveys in Ontario, when necessary, and provide written descriptions, including architectural details, of built heritage resources and cultural heritage landscapes documented in the field;
- Attend and support public information sessions involving heritage; and,
- Assist with preparation of proposals using internal systems and operations.
