Position: Instructor, Office Professional - FT
Under the general direction and supervision of the Dean and Associate Dean, the Instructor in the Office Professional Program is responsible for instructing students in various academic courses in a classroom, hybrid, online/remote, and/or off-campus setting. Teaching assignments for this position may include any Professional program courses, and currently are specifically Office Accounting, Spreadsheet Applications, Database Applications, and Financial Computer Applications.

The instructor develops course objectives, implements teaching strategies, advises students, monitors and evaluates student progress, and keeps accurate student records. This is a full-time regular position for the upcoming  Academic Year.

Essential Functions

Provide Instruction in Assigned Subject Areas

* Provide instruction to students according to the objectives of each course assigned. These courses include, but are not limited to, Office Accounting, Spreadsheet Applications, Database Applications, and Financial Computer Applications.

* This instructor will utilize a variety of instructional strategies in the classroom that may include, but are not limited to, lecture, small groups, audiovisual displays, hands-on training demonstrations, and individual and group projects.

Ability to Operate and Utilize Equipment as Part of the Teaching Process

* Operate and utilize as part of the teaching process appropriate audiovisual equipment (i.e., computer projector or document camera as appropriate)

Provide for Student Evaluation and Record Keeping

* Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and progress.

Remain Current in Events and Developments Related to Subject Areas

* Increase and improve personal teaching and subject knowledge through supplemental sources, such as in-service activities, conferences, workshops, technical updates, and personal self-study.

Participate in Program, Division, and College Activities, including committees and Teams

* Attend, participate, and support all department, division, and college activities and committees as requested and serve on assigned teams to contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of the College and department.

Serve as an Academic Adviser for Students

* Serve as an academic adviser to approximately 15 to 25 students.

* Tasks in this area include assisting students in selecting and registering for courses; reviewing each student's file, updating the course and grade information; advising students on academic progress, courses needed for graduation, and division/college policies and procedures; and generally serving as the first line of communication between students and the college staff.

Develop/Revise Course Curriculum and Educational Material

* Develop and/or revise course objectives, content, descriptions, and instructional strategies to keep content up to date and follow college guidelines.

* In addition, the instructor will develop, revise, and maintain evaluation instruments, classroom policies, and grading structures and strategies. This instructor will also review, evaluate, and recommend textbooks for course use.

Instruct Students on Use/Application of Appropriate Software

* Using textbook materials, other developed materials, tutorials, and/or demonstrations, instruct students and monitor their progress on the application of software, including Excel, Access, and Quick Books, which are part of the instructional requirements.

Individualized Development Plan (New Instructors)

* Each new instructor will develop an individualized development plan in cooperation with the Vice President of Instruction.

Professional Development

* Faculty should work with their immediate supervisor to develop an annual plan of professional development and improvement.

Promote a Culture of Belonging

Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the College's policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.

Marginal Functions

* Assist in the evaluation and selection of software and hardware to reflect community and industry use.

* Provide information and data that will assist in the preparation of budgets, course schedules, and other required reports.

* Serve as a substitute instructor within the Division when needed, as assigned by the Program Chair or Division Dean.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

* May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.

* Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
