About the Position

Join our team as a Special Education Specialist and make a meaningful impact on Nebraska’s most vulnerable student populations while helping shape education across the state. In this role, you will analyze and interpret data trends, monitor Results Driven Accountability (RDA), promote the Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and ensure that each student’s individual needs are effectively addressed.

84th & O St, Lincoln, NE.

Essential Functions
  • Provides consultative services and technical assistance to school personnel in districts through interpretation of data trends and Results Driven Accountability (RDA) monitoring.
  • Promotes Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and provides assistance in tiered levels of support to assist students in gaining access to general education curriculum.
  • Develops and delivers professional learning experiences and provides resources related to evidence‑based practice and working with students with disabilities.
  • Provides guidance in using effective instructional strategies with students with disabilities in all content areas.
  • Maintains regular & reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver’s license and travels independently, and works in a variety of settings.
Working Conditions And Travel

This position requires approximately 50% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 50% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools, educational service units, and other service agencies. There is also approximately five days of overnight travel per month.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the field of education or related subject area.
  • One year of successful preK‑12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school or equivalent experience in another state or country.
  • Eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 92 NAC 21.
  • For candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent Master of Arts in Teaching per 92 NAC 21, three years of successful preK‑12 teaching or school administration experience and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 92 NAC 21.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Special Education endorsement, and at least three years of successful preK‑12 experience in school district special education.
