We are looking for compassionate educators to guide our young learners using the Montessori method.
About the SchoolThe Montessori School for Young Children (MSYC) has been serving the community since 1978 and is the oldest non‑profit Montessori school in the area. Children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years develop a love for learning and an awareness of their community while establishing a strong academic foundation at MSYC.
Assistant Teacher SchedulesBoth part-time and full-time Assistant Teacher positions are available, with hours falling between 7:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on school days during the academic year (August–May). Additional opportunities for subbing are available for part‑time employees outside of their typical scheduled hours.
Assistant Teachers are required to work a minimum of 20 days of MSYC’s Summer Enrichment Program (ending in July). They may choose full‑time employment during the program or request part‑time employment.
QualificationsCandidates must have at least 3 credit or 45 clock hours of training in early childhood education, education, child/youth development, or psychology.
Preferred candidates will have previous work experience in Montessori or early childhood education and hold a bachelor’s or associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development, or will have a Child Development Associate Credential.
Responsibilities- Engage with and supervise small cohorts of students or individual students in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
- Support the prepared environment by implementing the curriculum according to the Directress.
- Help maintain a classroom that is safe, clean, and beautiful.
- Support behavioral guidelines provided by the school and Directress.
- Assist students with their personal needs (diapering, toileting, washing hands, etc.).
- Communicate with children in an authentic voice that is natural and kind.
- Be present at required community events (end‑of‑year celebration, etc.).
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
