Position SummaryHawley Middle School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable Behavior Class Special Education Paraprofessional Aide to support students with behavioral and emotional needs in a structured classroom setting. The ideal candidate is patient, proactive, and committed to helping students develop positive behaviors, academic skills, and self-regulation strategies in a safe and supportive environment.
This role is essential to student success and requires close collaboration with special education teachers, administrators, and support staff.
Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide direct support to students in a behavior-focused special education classroom.
Assist with academic instruction, assignments, and skill-building activities under the direction of the classroom teacher.
Implement behavior intervention strategies and supports as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Support students in developing appropriate social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviors.
Monitor, document, and report student behavior, progress, and incidents in accordance with campus and district procedures.
Provide supervision and assistance during transitions, breaks, and other non-classroom activities.
Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Collaborate effectively with teachers, counselors, administrators, and special education staff.
Offer consistent encouragement, patience, and emotional support to students throughout the school day.
High school diploma or GED required.
Paraprofessional Certification preferred, but not required.
Hawley ISD is willing to assist qualified candidates in obtaining certification.Experience working with children, particularly students with special needs or behavioral challenges, is preferred.
Ability to follow behavior plans, classroom procedures, and instructional guidance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality.
Must successfully pass fingerprinting and drug screening.
