Job Summary

The Speech‑Language Pathology Program in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska‑Lincoln (UNL) is accepting applications for two 9‑month, tenure‑track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities could include in‑person teaching of master’s and doctoral level students, conducting research in your area of expertise, pursuing extramural funding, directing undergraduate and graduate student research, and participating in departmental and university service.

At the time of appointment, applicants must have a research doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related area. While all areas of expertise will be considered, the following areas of scholarship are desired: child language and speech sound disorders, fluency disorders, neurogenic communication disorders, multicultural service delivery learning, and special populations.

Required Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related area.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research publications, grant activity, or research trajectory.
  • Evidence of effective teaching or training at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong record or promise of obtaining external funding.
  • Experience in both basic and applied research in communication disorders.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology before the start date.
  • Expertise in one or more of the interest areas: child language and speech sound disorders, fluency disorders, neurogenic communication disorders, multicultural service delivery learning, and special populations.
  • Skills or experience in mentoring graduate students.
