Job DescriptionWe are seeking a seasoned professional to lead and manage all procurement and materiel operations for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). This senior‑level role is responsible for directing every aspect of the agency's procurement activities, ensuring compliance with State of Nebraska requirements and alignment with industry best practices. The position demands strong administrative expertise and an agency‑specific approach to materiel management.
Duties- Contribute to strategic decision‑making regarding the agency's procurement, materiel, and administrative operations and processes.
- Provide leadership and oversight to professional staff within the Procurement and Materiel Division, ensuring effective performance and development.
- Serve as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders on all materiel‑related matters, representing the agency's interests.
- Review, interpret, and enforce procurement and materiel policies to ensure compliance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, procurement, supply/inventory operations or related field AND six years procurement experience with at least two years of experience in leading and/or supervising professional level procurement teams. Any equivalent combination of experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of the State of Nebraska procurement and material practices. Proficient Microsoft knowledge, demonstrated experience utilizing procurement systems and related technologies to manage purchasing processes, track inventory, and ensure compliance with procurement policies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience evaluating the effectiveness of current strategies and recommending improvements to administration.
