COMMUNITY ASSOCIATE - 56057
Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative, the selected candidate will perform various functions assisting with the coordination of Office of Safety and Security activities.
Responsibilities- Review, process, and close out Workplace Violence and NYCHA Safety and Security reports.
- Assist, implement, monitor safety and security initiatives at NYCHA developments.
- Conduct unannounced inspections of buildings where there are Security/Firewatch guards.
- Maintain safety and security records, written reports, daily and monthly metrics.
- Conduct regular audits of files to ensure compliance with department/agency guidelines and protocols.
- Perform risk assessments at each NYCHA property.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions and community meetings as required.
- Work with NYCHA Security and NYPD on various safety initiatives.
- Perform daily office operational tasks.

Conditions:
Individual selected for this position will be actively engaged in physical building inspections, as well as performing tasks that require a lot of walking, climbing stairs and standing for long periods of time.

- High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- Established proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, work independently and within a team setting.
