About the Role

The Accounting Specialist supports both Cherry Hill Company and Legacy Retirement Communities by managing core accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and partnering with internal teams. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and plays an important part in keeping our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable, including invoice review, auditing, and check preparation
  • Manage accounts receivable, including tenant deposits, Medicaid payments, and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate tenant account records, including rent changes, move-ins, move-outs, and ancillary charges
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, and general ledger support
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
  • Track and report vacancy delinquencies and aging of receivables
  • Prepare and electronically file monthly Sales & Use tax returns
  • Enter payroll data into the general ledger, including intercompany job costing
  • Support and train Office Managers on AP/AR processes
  • Assist with audits, internal controls, record retention, and account analysis
  • Support the CFO with budgeting and special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related experience required
  • (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (AP, AR, or general accounting)
  • Property management accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with accounting software required; MRI Property Management software strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
