Job Purpose and SummaryAs a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience. You will help ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and we provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations. Technicians work as part of the pharmacy team through SOPs, best practices, and effective communication, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
Once in role, Technicians are required to complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to their State Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until all requirements are met, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care; assist with immunizations and other services as applicable; deliver compassionate service and escalate issues as needed.
- Perform basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership (e.g., stocking, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories).
- Support a high-performing team, embrace feedback, and expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; travel to stores in the market as needed.
- Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety, privacy, and compliant dispensing of medications.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing) where allowed by law and with required training and certification.
- Complete licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare and administer vaccines.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Monitor for adverse reactions and report events per public health requirements.
- Review and collect patient information and track documentation for applicable patients.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice (age, education, licensure/certification).
- If not addressed by the state board, minimum age is 16; high school diploma or equivalent or active enrollment in high school required.
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, switch tasks as needed, ensure prescription information and labeling accuracy.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively help people with empathy.

- Problem Resolution: handle challenging interactions and choose appropriate actions.
- Physical Demands: mobility, lifting up to 20 lbs, visual acuity, and manual dexterity requirements.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1-3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market as needed.
