Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for fostering community engagement and supporting organizational growth by cultivating meaningful volunteer relationships and promoting a positive volunteer experience across multiple locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work onsite at all three locations in person (Lincoln shelter, Maryville office, thrift store).
- Oversee 500+ active volunteers.
- Weekly and monthly newsletters to volunteers.
- 24‑hour response time to all volunteer inquiries and applications.
- Pursuing new volunteers through different platforms.
- Work off‑site community outreach events to find new volunteers.
- Oversee and manage the foster volunteer program alongside the Animal Care Team.
- Coordinate all volunteer appreciation events and programs across multiple departments and programs.

QualificationsEducation/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Write simple correspondence.
- Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
Mathematical Ability
- Add and subtract two‑digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10's and 100's.
- Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
- Ability to work with multiple different software platforms, including but not limited to Google Docs, Excel, Sharepoint, Dropbox, shelter management software platforms, and event planning platforms.
Certificates and Licenses – A certificate relating to animal welfare or volunteer coordinating is preferred, but not required, to apply for this position.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
