Position OverviewThe Network Security Operations Specialist is a well‑rounded information security professional responsible for protecting and supporting enterprise network infrastructure through hands‑on firewall administration, security operations, and network troubleshooting. This role is heavily focused on Palo Alto firewalls within a Cisco‑centric environment and requires an individual who can operate independently, interpret security policy intent, and execute changes without heavy oversight.
Responsibilities- Firewall & Network Security Administration:
- Configure, manage, and support Next‑Generation Firewalls, with a strong emphasis on Palo Alto (Panorama, policy interpretation, configuration deployment).
- Administer firewall policies, objects, NAT rules, threat prevention profiles, and VPN configurations.
- Perform firewall rule reviews, optimization, and cleanup to improve security posture and performance.
- Understand how policies are written, how packets are expected to flow, and how to troubleshoot when behavior does not match intent.
- Deploy configuration changes across firewall platforms with confidence and accuracy.
- Security Operations & Monitoring:
- Monitor and analyze firewall logs, Syslogs, and security alerts using vendor tools, SIEM platforms, and packet capture utilities.
- Investigate and remediate network‑based security incidents in coordination with incident response or SOC teams.
- Correlate security events and elevate per established procedures.
- Ensure syslog forwarding from security platforms is properly configured and maintained (required).
- Network Infrastructure Support:
- Troubleshoot Layer 2 / 3 networking issues, with a strong emphasis on routing and switching fundamentals.
- Support secure connectivity across data centers, corporate offices, and manufacturing environments.
- Work within a primarily Cisco environment while supporting Palo Alto as the core security platform.
- Exposure to NAC technologies is preferred.
- Automation & Continuous Improvement:
- Assist with security automation initiatives using tools such as Ansible or scripting languages (Python, Power Shell, etc.).
- Participate in process improvements and help modernize security operations over time.
- While deep automation architecture expertise is not required, flexibility and willingness to learn is essential.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate documentation of firewall configurations, security procedures, and operational standards.
- Support compliance and security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, or PCI‑DSS as applicable.
- Contribute to security hardening standards and best‑practice enforcement.
- 5‑10+ years of experience in network security, firewall engineering, or information security operations.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (Panorama, policy management, log analysis).
- Experience in Cisco‑heavy environments.
- Solid understanding of routing and switching fundamentals, firewall policy logic and packet flow, and network troubleshooting and log analysis.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience with Forti Gate or Juniper firewalls (future‑state platforms).
- Exposure to NAC technologies.
- Security certifications:
- Palo Alto Certifications
- CCNA / CCNP
- Security+, CISSP, or CISM
- Automation or scripting experience (Ansible, Python, Power Shell).
- Multilingual Capability:
- Spanish or Japanese (Language skills may be a differentiator but will not outweigh core technical strength).
- Key

Pay Rate: $65 - $67 / Hour
