Job OverviewPlans and administers physical therapy programs for patients to restore function, relieve pain, prevent disability following injury or disease within scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Plans and administers physical therapy programs for patients to restore function, relieve pain, prevent disability following injury or disease within scope of practice.
- Selects, administers, and interprets assessment tools (History, Screening, Observations, Evaluations) as appropriate to patients.
- Identifies functional goals and prioritizes treatment plans; develops realistic goals for remediation, compensation, adaptation or prevention of deficits.
- Applies evidence-based treatment methods designated in competency expectations; assesses treatment effectiveness and adjusts as needed.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and team in oral and written formats in both formal and informal settings.
- Assists in training others (staff, PTAs, aides, students) as designated in competency expectations.
- Takes responsibility for seeking supervision or consultation as needed for clinical performance.
- Performs discharge planning with consideration of prognosis and community resources.
- Maintains clinical documentation, scheduling, and follows organizational policies and procedures.
- Directly contacts patients, families, nursing, therapists, and other health and education professionals as required.
- Contributes to improvement plans and utilizes feedback to enhance performance.
- Meets competency expectations in explaining symptoms, prognosis, and functional limitations for a variety of diagnostic groups.
- Meets minimum annual expected volumes and ensures timely completion of assigned duties.
- Assigns and follows up on duties of physical therapy assistants, aides, orthotics technicians, and assists with student training as designated.
- Ensures effective collaboration with other professionals and community partners in patient care.
- Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree (or higher) with a major in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- NJ Physical Therapy License.
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification.
- Scheduling Requirements:
Full Time; 40 hours/week; 12 weekend days per year (as applicable).
- Completion of a pediatric affiliation.
- Certifications and Licenses as required by competency expectations.
